About 15 years ago I was working on ships in Barcelona, Spain.
I visited a Maritime Museum and was intrigued by the
way they displayed and constructed their wooden boats.
Upon return to my ship, I happened upon some fruit crates and I took them to my room.
To pass the time, I started building wooden boats.
I soon became a single parent raising four boys, and to survive I built and sold hand made piroughes.
A piroughe is a small flat bottom boat associated with the Cajuns of Louisiana marsh.
They look similar to a canoe.
My gift shop/art studio is now open in Port Vincent, Louisiana on Highway 16.
